Dr. Boice and the whole team meet with Betsy and I last night to discuss betsy’s progress and the way ahead. Dr. Boice would like to do two things as soon as possible: start Betsy’s Chemotherapy and send her home this weekend.
According to Dr. Boice, Betsy’s ovarian cancer will be treated with TAXOL and CISPLATIN. The chemotherapy can be done on an outpatient basis using Betsy’s PICC line to administer the drugs.
Betsy’s treatment will occur every three weeks at Anne Arundel Medical Center: DeCesaris Cancer Institute. There are side effects to this regimen – among them is hair loss.
But, before Dr. Boice can get started Betsy still has to recover a little more from the surgery. Essentially she has to get her digestive system back on track so she can take in solid food. Once she can do that Dr. Boice can do his thing.
Then, Betsy can come home.
Please continue to pray for Betsy.

A Healing Petition
May God heal me,
body and soul.
May my pain cease,
May my strength increase,
May my fears be released,
May blessings, love,
and joy surround me.
Amen.

After spending the past couple of days with Bets, I just wanted to say that it was heartbreaking to see my sister with generalized edema, in pain and feeling so nauseous as she tries so hard to be so strong for everyone else. Bets is fighting hard and I know she will continue to do so. Her love for God, Tom, the boys, family and friends and their love for her... is her strength.
Bets has been there as the OB nurse for all her sisters as they had their children and it was my pleasure to be there for her. I will return, as soon as I can, to be there for her. This is the first time she has ever needed anyone's help. Please be there for her, if not physically, then through your prayers.
I can tell you that she is enjoying the blog comments as much as we are enjoying the updates from Tom and the boys.
We love you, Bets....see you real soon, Teen

The Lord Be Our Defender
May God the Father bless us,
may Christ take care of us,
the Holy Ghost enlighten us all the days of our life.
The Lord be our defender and keeper of body and soul,
both now and for ever, to the ages of ages.

Being Betsy’s YOUNGEST sister and the only non-nurse sister in the family it was very upsetting to see her suffering, as Teen described. I don’t understand it all right from the start but I find that a blessing at times.
One of the biggest blessings though is having Betsy as a sister! Yes, she was there during the birth of both my daughters and helped a young, ignorant girl and her husband, understand what was going on…I was the first one in the family to have a c-section and then complications during the second one. Frank and I have always been grateful for your love, support, compassion and OB expertise. You were always just a phone call away and now the same goes for you.
I continue to pray for strength, courage and healing for all of us. As a family we’ve been through a great deal of pain in the past and together we’ll see YOU through your recovery as you venture into the next leg of your journey.
God bless….We love you,
Fluffy and Frank
