Sadly Betsy still hasn’t been released to come home, and here’s why; her bowels are in an uproar…kind of.
During Betsy’s surgery last week Dr. Boice man handled her intestines to look for cancer. It turns out that intestines do not much care to be man handled or, for that matter women or children handled either, I’m sure. So while her recovery from the surgery has gone quite well, that is, no infection and the like, her guts need to get back to their natural state.
Or a brighter note, we took Betsy on a field trip today. Screw this laying around in bed. We snagged a wheel chair, hijacked an elevator and carted Betsy out to the WHC courtyard for some vitamin D therapy. The beautiful blue sky and warm sun did much to bolster her spirit.
Maybe Betsy will come home tomorrow. We’ll see.
Oh, before I forget. I had a question about the blog. A faithful reader asked why, occasionally, some of the text in the posting is a different color. For example, in this post “Let the Sunshine In” is not the same color as the regular text. These are hyperlinks to other web pages which I insert to provide additional information. Betsy sends her love to all and asks that you continue your prayers and comments.

Hi Aunt Betsy!
I am glad you got to go outside today. It was gorgeous out. So, Uncle Tom was able to hijack a wheelchair, was he able to smuggle in some Memorial Day BBQ food for you? I hope that you will be coming home soon. You'll feel so much better in your own home. We are thinking of you and praying for you all the time.
All our love,
Amy, Jay and kids
Hi Aunt Betsy,
I'm glad you were able to get outside and enjoy some of this beautiful day! I myself sat outside for a short time before heading out to work.I could smell a barbecue from a nearby yard and was nostalgic for the times we would sit in your backyard behind the "little yellow house", under that great big tree with the tire swing hanging from it. The picnic tables were covered with food for a barbecue and I can remember Spooky(the french poodle)running around and me, Amy, "Mikey", Jessica and Eric would be running out in the field playing "house or school". Grandpa would be hanging his flag on his prized flagpole. It was so much fun getting together with the whole family and celebrating. That's what I miss the most about moving away, our family was always together. I think that is why during this most difficult time for you we have the love that was created from so many years of being together. And no matter how far apart we are our strength is with you each day. Hopefully when you are feeling better we can all get together and reminisce, that would be so wonderful!
Keep fighting, I hope you get home real soon. xoxo Jenn
We had so many great times at those barbecues! I think we were there every weekend. Jennifer forgot to mention us always getting into trouble. Picking too many flowers, playing in the pine needles, running up and down that metal door over your basement opening, going in between the chicken coup and the garage that was over there. Someone was always yelling at us. But we had fun. Actually, Aunt Betsy, the only time I remember you getting mad at us was the first BBQ Uncle Tom came to. I remember being so excited that he might be our Uncle soon. We had a plan that we were going to put ice down his back and you yelled at us. I really miss those times, seeing everyone every weekend. Do you remember doing the "Alley Cat?"
Hope you get outside again today, or better yet I hope you get to go home.
Love and prayers,
Amy
Wow this brings back a flood of memories....remember the Slip and Slide, the Tug of War, the 3 legged races with prizes and ribbons and all. Remember the Ambrosia salad, the Summer kitchen, and Granny sleeping in the chair....it sure seems like a much simplier time. So many wonderful memories...so much love...Mom wouldn't have had it any other way...thanks, Mom.
Bets, when you get home and get strong, we can look forward to the good times again.
Hope you get home today...its another beautiful one... see you soon, I love you, Teen
Memories!!!!
We did have great times. Watchiing all the kids running around, playing all the games Teen would organize. Volleyball for the adults, Margaret concerned about her acrylic nails.
How many new family members did we meet and get to know sitting out there?
Your bridal shower....after hurricane Gloria, with no electricity!!! The melted candles someone gave you.
What about painting your house? Gathering to watch Mo's house burn, in the controlled Fire Dept practice. We could make a party out of anything!
Glad you got to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather yesterday. Hope you get to go home very soon.
All our love and prayers,
Fluffy
What a day to get hijacked! It was gorgeous outside yesterday. Hope you come home soon. We're saying prayers everyday.

Hello Betsy,
I am following your journey from surgery to home. I hope today brought calming to the GI tract and closer to your goal to be at home.
As I pray for you I am reminded that the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are with you every moment of every day...your very own entourage of hope and healing -along with all your family and friends!!
Blessings and love,
