Who are the people making comments?

I’ve gotten an inquiry about who all have been commenting. So this post will address that. At a high level folks stopping by the blog are family, friends and colleagues of Betsy, me and our sons Andrew and Kevin. A number of folks are from our parish, Church of the Holy Apostles, others track back to Boy Scout Troop 769 , and then there are all of Betsy’s professional colleagues at Anne Arundel County Department of Health and my professional colleagues “in the government.” And then there are the other usual suspects, long time friends going back as far as grade school, high school, nursing school, and college.

I’d like you to consider sharing a little bit about yourself in your individual profile -- you might be surprised to learn who is who and who does what.

I am from the Church of the Holy Apostles. I met Betsy and Tom about 4 years ago while we met at Four Seasons Elementary School where Mass was held for the Church of the Holy Apostles. Betsy was always so kind and explaining to me what a Eucharistic Minister role was at the Church. Betsy has always led by example..
Last month I was walking in the Annapolis Mall with a dear friend and who do we run into...Betsy
I said "do you really think I need a flu shot and Betsy said yes" so I went to get the shot.
Let's all keep Betsy in our prayers because she has always kept us in her prayers.

Rekus Family,

We were so sorry to hear this news but we are glad to hear of Betsy's increasing strength over the past two days. We will keep the prayers coming and look for more good news.

I met Betsy 9 years ago at West Meade Elementary where she was the nurse and I was an intern! (Funny how life works--I returned to West Meade during the last few weeks to fill in for a collegue until the end of the school year!) A year or two later, Betsy was a familiar, friendly, and welcoming face when my family first visited and then became a part of the Waugh Chapel Mission, which has since become Church of the Holy Apostles.

We are sending good thoughts and many prayers,
Julie, Julian, JR, and Joel

Hi Aunt Betsy and Uncle Tom,

We have been thinking about you and praying for you every day. We are happy that you are getting stronger. Thank you Uncle Tom for setting this blog up. I like how I can get updates on Aunt Betsy's progress whenever I want. Please tell Andrew and Kevin that we are thinking about them too. I will read your blog every day and I will write again soon. We love you very much!

This is Fr. Michael, founding pastor of Church of the Holy Apostles and friend of Tom, Betsy, Drew and Kevin. I am in NYC now and praying fiercely from a distance. Sounds like Betsy is her determined self. Betsy and Tom have always been very supprotive of my ministry and of me personally. I wish I was closer to be with. I will be in MD June 14 and plan to see you then.

Diane, CHA has been having Mass in the new building for 5 years, we were in Four Seasons in 2000-2002 How the years have gone! Tom and Betsy helped haul and care for the Mass items and set up during our stints in Waugh Chapel Elementary, Four Seasons, OLF hall, Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church and Gambrills Athletic Club!

Blessings to all.

Well I got to visit Betsy today and she looked real good, I saw it with my own eyes! She was sleepy from the pain medicine but it looks like she is recovering on schedule.
Aunt Betsy, Uncle Tom, Andrew and Kevin: Our prayers are with you today and always. Love, Jenn

I am Kevin's friend Josh's grandmother (Na), and involved with Boy Scout Troop 769. Kevin is like another grandson - he is keeping us well-informed of Betsy's progress. The whole family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Betsy:

Someone once told me that as soon as you hear the diagnosis, you're a survivor, so you're already on your way to recovery. You go, girl!

God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.

Hi, I'm Jo-
I knew Tom ("TR") from my old "highschool gang" in Towson, Maryland. There are several of us (Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, Georgia, Colorado) that occasionally share emails, silly jokes, local weather stories, and great memories. My wonderful husband Bob just shakes his head whenever he knows I'm emailing this group of (truly) old friends. We all went either to the "Franciscan Nun" Parish high school or to the Baltimore Jesuit High School. Although at times I hate to admit it and we joke about it all the time, the values we learned through our Catholic education have helped us stay in touch despite the different roads and canyons we have travelled since Towson, Maryland. I have never personally met Betsy, but can only imagine what a great person she must be through stories that I have heard. Betsy, you WILL do well! A few years ago TR sent to all of us pix of your sons at prom.....you should be proud and I can only imagine how these fine young men, plus your husband, will be such a great source of support to you. Bless you, Betsy!

We are parishoners at Holy Apostles. Please know that you are in our prayers and hope you are able to come home to be with your family.

Just to let you know that I am walking on a Relay for Life team in Queen Anne county in a couple of weeks. My Mom runs a cancer support group there. I am adding names of those who have been affected by this disease to my relay shirt, and last week I asked Kevin if I could add yours. He said sure! So, I will be walking in your honor on June 7 & 8. Take care and God bless.
