Wednesday, June 11, 2008 – OK Betsy is home, but the dog is still depressed

Lest I suffer eternal damnation, I should confess that Betsy did indeed come home yesterday afternoon.

Today we got an early start for x-rays and a doctor’s appointment. The x-rays showed very little fluid around Betsy’s lungs and Br. Boice removed her PICC line.

Now this may not sound like much but it took close to six hours to do these two things. By the time we got back home in the early afternoon Betsy was pretty much shot for the day.

But all’s well that ends well. In this particular case, ending well included a long overdue shower later in the afternoon. I’m also pleased to note that Betsy’s appetite for dinner was pretty good.

I’m encouraging Betsy to take the next couple of days “off” from all forms of medical practitioners, just chill out and start to maintain this blog!

Anyway, just like the 1935 Albert de Courville movie Things Are Looking Up.

Please keep the prayers coming.

Hi Betsy,
I hope you were able to rest well last night without having to worry about the PICC line in your arm. So glad you could take a shower, you must feel more like yourself. I see you making progress each day. Sounds like your dog is sensitive like my Julie, and will perk up after spending time with you at home. Sarah

Hi Bets,
There's no place like home.... Just take it slow, one day at a time. Keep in mind the importance of moving, eating, and getting enough fluids. I know you like to get up early and start your day, so I have a suggestion....have Tom arrange for a personal care aide for you. She could come every weekday morning to help you shower and dress, get breakfast for you, etc. just until you feel stronger.
Hope to see you real soon, love you, Teen

Yay! Home (again) is good! Let's hope it sticks this time! Prayers continue (for Ginger, too!), for the comfort of home, and for continued strength.

Betsy,

Glad you are home. Hope you can enjoy this beautiful weather a bit. Still praying for you daily and am glad to hear you have an appetite. Keep it up! Hoping your blood sugars stay in control...we diabetics have to stick together! Take care and have a restful weekend. We are off to celebrate Steve's parents' 50th wedding anniversary. It won't be restful but should be fun.
