Evening came, morning followed

It was a little after 11:00 PM when Dr. Sardi finished up with Betsy and gave us a run down on how things when. In short things went fine, he removed a lot of tumor growth while keeping various organs in tack. Given the amount of material he was very surprised that Betsy was feeling as well as she was. It was after midnight when we very briefly saw Bets in the ICU. She was quite zonked out and hooked up to all manner of equipment but looked great - or at least as good as anyone can given the circumstances.

I'll see her later and will put out an update then.

Kevin was kind enough to write this up for me: This afternoon Andrew Dad and I took a trip up to the hospital to pay mom a little visit. When we got there mom very sleepy from all the medication. The nurse said that earlier in the day mom had sat on the edge of the bed. Not even 24 hours after the surgery and shes making progress. Mom looked great but we could all tell that she felt bad. More information to come.

Tom,

Keeping you and Betsy in our thoughts and prayers. So glad to hear that the procedure went well.

If I may add some additional encouragement for your friends to visit Baltimore (AND BETSY)...
- Go have some dessert at Vaccaro's in Little Italy.
- Drive past Charm City Cakes (corner of Remington and 36th St, I believe)
- Grab a bite to eat at Cafe Hon in Hampden, stroll through the quirky shops on the Avenue.
- VISIT BETSY

Betsy, Tom, Drew & Kevin,

You are ALL in our thoughts and prayers.

Sitting on the side of the bed! A yay and ugh at the same time. I remember that first sit, Bets. I nearly passed out. Then comes the steps, the walking, walking, walking, becoming intimate with every door you pass in the hallway, as you pass them many times, knowing that everyone behind those doors is fighting the good fight - and a prayer for each and every one of them for strength and endurance as we put one foot in front of the other. I know you know this walk already, too, but I just want you to know I'm walking those steps with you - each step - in my heart, and praying for your courage, strength and endurance in the process!

God bless,
Patrie
